Achieving More With Others!
Before I jump into today’s post, I want to say thanks again to Beth Stice for being our first guest on “5 Questions With…”, and also thank you for reading! The responses we received were great, and we look forward to continuing “5 Questions With…” at the end of each month.
Thursday morning, I discovered that the pilot light in our hot water heater went out. We called our local gas company and the company we have our home warranty through but both of them were saying they couldn’t get to us until the following Tuesday. So my wife encouraged me to go ahead and try to fix it myself.
Now, I love a good challenge. Especially figuring out how things work. But I had a lot of other things going on, and was getting increasingly frustrated by the minute as the part I purchased didn’t seem to be fixing the issue.
I was just about to give up when my wife suggested I reach out to a few friends. I got some great responses. My buddy Jon even came over to help. He tinkered with it for a little bit and WHOOSH! We had a constant flame! I thanked him profusely and asked him what he did. “I didn’t really do anything.” he said. “Your part is a little longer than normal, so we just had to keep trying longer than normal to get it to work.”.
I’m grateful to my wife for suggesting I reach out to friends. The texts I received and Jon’s presence kept me going long enough to get the positive result we were after. Hot Water!!!
May I always remember that I can achieve more with others than I can on my own.
Thanks for reading!
