Peace In The Storm

Peace In The Storm

Right now our house is abuzz with the sounds of a restoration company’s blowers and humidifiers.

The floor drain in our garage backed up, sending water through the walls and into the adjacent room in our house. It wasn’t a pretty site, but the restoration company got it taken care of quickly.

They did leave a host of devices that we have to keep running for three days straight to make sure everything is ok.

As I sit here on the third and final day of the constant noise, I’ve got to say I’ve grown quite fond of the blowers hum.

Yes, it’s difficult to hear what someone else is saying if you’re close to that room, but I find the constant tone rather soothing. It’s helping me focus more intently and I think I’m going to miss that noise when the devices are all disconnected and removed tomorrow.

When the storms of life come and blow loud in our house, may I remember to use their hum as a call to greater focus and reflection.
