Peace In The Present
There were several moments this week where I felt my anxiety level rise. In those moments I found myself thinking about the possibilities of negative events in the future. My anxiety wasn’t based on present circumstances, but the chance of negative situations that hadn’t even happened yet.
As I let go of my negative thoughts of the future, and focused on the situations and opportunities I had in the moment, there was peace.
An article about Super Bowl winning quarterback, Russel Wilson practicing something similar showed up on ESPN’s website last week. Russel’s emotional neutrality is what guided him to get over a crushing loss in the Super Bowl 49, sign the NFL’s most financially lucrative contract and have an excellent start to the 2019 season.
Remaining emotionally neutral takes practice, but regardless of my emotions may I always remember to stay in the present and focus on the moment at hand.
