Rejuvenation Through Contemplation
Here recently I’ve found myself taking advantage of times I have alone to be quiet.
I turn off the radio, put down the book, turn off the podcast or audio book, and recognize my emotions, pray, and listen to God.
The result has been a level of spiritual and emotional rejuvenation that I hadn’t known before, which in turn helps me to re-focus on what’s most important.
I had no idea that a form of this practice was apart of the Christian tradition in the 4th century by many early church fathers, including Augustine.
And even through at times it feels like a sacrifice to practice contemplation because of other things that seem more important at the time, I’m thankful for it later.
